Zinc acetate ineffective for chronic cough treatment
Researchers tested whether zinc acetate could help people suffering from persistent, hard-to-treat cough. In this randomized, placebo-controlled pilot study, 34 participants received either zinc acetate or placebo for 6 weeks, with improvements measured using four different cough and quality-of-life scales.

While zinc successfully increased serum zinc levels in treated participants, both groups improved similarly across all measures. The improvements in cough symptoms and quality of life were too small to meet clinically meaningful thresholds, suggesting zinc acetate offers no real advantage over placebo for chronic cough sufferers.

I often fall ill, so I decided to try zinc as an immune booster after reading about its benefits. I took it alongside Ester C for 1.5 months. Recently, I was exposed to flu, yet despite the infection in the house, I did not get sick! My son experienced a mild form of the illness, but he began taking zinc and recovered quickly. In contrast, my father-in-law, who refuses to take supplements, suffered significantly from the flu. It seems zinc truly works wonders for immunity!

Immunity boost

I've been using this form of zinc for nearly a year and didn't fall ill at all, unlike the previous year when I caught the flu often. It's an excellent immune booster. I recommend this form as it is well absorbed.

Eased chronic cough
This is one of the best bioavailable forms of zinc, providing excellent support for the immune system during viral illnesses. When I had covid in winter, I took zinc, NAC, and vitamins C and D before showing any symptoms. I managed to cope easily, with only two brief episodes of fever and no chronic cough.

Skin inflammation
The supplement is fine, but the dosage was too high for me. I prefer zinc glycinate with pumpkin seed oil. I typically take zinc in winter, as it reduces skin inflammation and chronic cough frequency. For the last two years, I’ve managed without antibiotics during flare-ups.

Reduced chronic cough
The picolitic form of zinc is well absorbed by the body. My two sons and I took it; the eldest, aged 17, has experienced significantly less hair loss. The youngest, 13, started taking it while suffering from flu. This time, he did not develop a chronic cough or any snot.

I wasn't sure how effective vitamin zinc is at promoting rapid cell regeneration. While I didn’t see notable changes, my husband, who took it alongside multivitamins, stopped his chronic cough after a week. So, perhaps it works differently for each individual. I shall continue taking it as zinc is said to be necessary for viral infections.
